Tower to Tower

London to Paris. On foot. In six days.

The boys ran from the Tower of London to the Eiffel Tower, covering five back-to-back ultramarathons and a final half marathon. Every kilometre was self-supported. They carried their own kit, food, and camera gear, committing to documenting the journey as it unfolded.

This wasn’t just a run. It was a test of consistency, resilience, and what happens when stopping isn’t an option.

When Plans Fall Apart

The toughest miles came without warning.

Two days before setting off, the ferry was cancelled. Plans changed overnight. Accommodation had to be rearranged, and the route reworked.

They arrived in France late and were forced to run for hours in total darkness along busy roads, eventually reaching their checkpoint at 11pm. Sleep was short. Recovery was rushed. The next morning, they woke up and did it all again.

Fuel on the Move

Why the bars mattered.

Running for over six hours a day and burning up to 7,000 calories meant fuelling had to be simple and reliable. The boys ate little and often, aiming for a bar roughly every 5km to keep energy levels steady.

The bars were easy to carry, easy to eat on the move, and easy to digest. The constant intake of carbohydrates helped maintain energy and supported hydration by improving fluid retention. When time is limited, good fuel becomes essential.

Running for More Than Themselves

Purpose carried them through.

The boys ran to raise money for PAPYRUS UK, a charity focused on suicide prevention in young people. That purpose mattered most when things became difficult.

Whether someone is training for their first 10k or taking on an extreme endurance challenge, fuelling and motivation go hand in hand. Find a strategy that works, commit to it, and keep moving forward.

Fuel School

How The Boys Fuelled

Burning 7000 calories a day required a lot of fuel. See how the boys planned their fulling below.

ON THE MOVE

Fuel without stopping

The boys were running for over six hours a day, often with no time to stop. Fuel had to work while moving. The bars were easy to carry, quick to grab, and simple to eat mid-run without breaking rhythm.

LITTLE AND OFTEN

Consistent energy beats big meals

They aimed to eat little and often, taking on a bar roughly every 5km rather than relying on large meals. This kept energy levels steady across long days and avoided the highs and crashes that come with irregular fuelling.

SIMPLE CARBS

Easy to digest, easy to use

The bars delivered straightforward, easy-to-digest carbohydrates. Regular intake supported sustained energy and helped the body absorb fluids lost through sweat and breathing. When days stack up, simple fuelling makes the difference.
