A Taste of Scotland: Our Limited Edition 'Gralloch' Blackcurrant Bar

A Taste of Scotland: Our Limited Edition 'Gralloch' Blackcurrant Bar

8 May, 2026

This May 15th to 17th, OGT is proud to return as a headline sponsor of The Gralloch - the UK’s premier gravel race held in the breathtaking wilderness of Galloway Forest Park, Scotland.

The Gralloch holds a special place in our hearts. It was on these very trails that one of our co-founders, Mike, first crossed paths with Olympic legend Jonny Brownlee. What began as a brief trackside chat evolved into a long-term partnership, recently culminating in the launch of Jonny’s own Chocolate Brownlee bar - a flavour that has become an instant favourite within the OGT community.

Celebrating Our Roots

To celebrate our ongoing relationship with The Gralloch and the spirit of Scottish gravel racing, we wanted to create something truly special for 2026. We looked to the landscape for inspiration and found the perfect match: Blackcurrant.

Native to the damp, fertile soils of Northern Europe, the blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum) is a famously hardy crop, perfectly suited to the unpredictable Scottish elements. It’s a berry that thrives under pressure - much like the athletes tackling up to 323km of grit this month.

The Flavour of 2026

We aren’t the only ones who think this berry is a winner; Blackcurrant has officially been named the McCormick 2026 Flavour of the Year. By blending this tart, vibrant fruit into our signature oat base, we’ve created a succulent, deep purple bar that provides the sustained energy OGT is known for, with a refreshing, zingy finish that cuts through the dust of the trail.
